Located in the heart of Cleveland's vibrant Latino community, La Plaza Supermarket is much more than your typical grocery store—it’s a cultural hub where authentic Latin American flavors and traditions come vividly to life. Combining the best elements of a supermarket, butcher shop, jewelry store, and even a restaurant, La Plaza offers an unparalleled one-stop destination for those seeking genuine Mexican and Latin American products alongside a taste of home-cooked dishes.
Shoppers here are greeted by aisles brimming with fresh, colorful produce and shelves stocked with hard-to-find ingredients from across Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Peru, Argentina, and Colombia. Whether it’s the fully stocked GOYA products that instantly evoke nostalgia or the variety of fresh meats at the butcher counter, La Plaza ensures authenticity in every corner. As Olga N beautifully described after her Cinco de Mayo visit, stepping inside is like stepping into a vibrant slice of Mexico, with cultural richness palpable in every detail.
For those craving an immediate culinary delight, the in-house taqueria restaurant excites the palate with its genuine Mexican fare. Customers rave about the flavorful tamales, where the meat filling bursts with traditional spices—but as Elle Maria Bee suggests, a bit more meat and a little less masa would perfect the balance. Michael Murphy highlights the joy of crafting personal taco masterpieces at the condiment bar, adding fresh toppings to freshly grilled tacos and savoring every bite in a lively, welcoming atmosphere. This integration of market and restaurant makes La Plaza not just a place to shop, but an immersive experience of Latin culture through food and community.
The store’s commitment extends beyond groceries and food. Its money transfer services provide a valuable connection to loved ones abroad, while the jewelry corner adds a touch of artisanal charm. Customer Yudid’s enthusiastic endorsement as a “top 10” spot underscores La Plaza’s importance to both locals and visitors searching for authentic ingredients and warm hospitality.
In essence, La Plaza Supermarket is a bustling, sensory-rich environment where every visit feels like a heartfelt invitation to explore and celebrate the diverse flavors and traditions of Latin America. From the moment you walk in, the vibrant colors, enticing aromas, and genuine warmth create an experience that resonates deeply, turning routine errands into joyful discoveries.
I’ve picked up tamales from this market a few times. The meat in the tamales is flavorful. However with the pork & chicken, less masa more meat filling is suggested. I don’t want to overpay for a tamale. I will continue to shop here.
The store and the restaurant are very impressive definitely top 10 on my list. definitely recommend if you’re looking for authentic Mexican ingredients and food. This is the place.
As far as authentic Mexican ingredients go, this grocery store is great. They have as well Guatemalen, El Salvadoran, Hounderan, Peruvian, Argentinian, Columbian products as well.
Fresh vegetables and fully stocked GOYA products. After we had 2 great Taco's and Cascadia , there's a condiment's bar where you add your own toppings
Yesterday on Cinco de Mayo, I stopped by La Plaza Supermarket, and it was like stepping into a vibrant slice of Mexico. This Latin market combines a full grocery store with a taqueria, offering an authentic shopping and dining experience. Wandering through the store was a cultural experience in itself. The shelves are packed with products from Mexico and Latin America—fresh produce, meats, baked goods, and hard-to-find specialty items. There are dedicated sections for meat, fish, bakery, produce, and even a pharmacy. From piñatas and cacti to colorful souvenirs and traditional cookware, the store has no shortage of unique items. I picked up some chocolate, chocolate wafers, and a pastry from their bakery, which had a surprisingly large selection of sweets. On the flip side, the coffee selection was pretty limited. Cleanliness was decent, and while the aisles felt a bit tight, everything was easy enough to navigate. The staff didn’t go out of their way to engage, but that might just be the first-visit experience. The taqueria, which is accessible both from inside the store and through a separate entrance, was roomy and had a steady crowd dining in—even on Cinco de Mayo. If you're looking for authentic Mexican ingredients, snacks, or souvenirs, La Plaza is definitely worth a visit. Plan to spend some time—there’s a lot to take in.
All the food is amazing, tacos are nice size portions and they have a fresh toppings/salsa bar. Supermarket has a decent amount to offer also. Fresh produce OTC pharmacy items, etc.
